Teresa Lim in Bologna

Teresa Lim is a designer from Singapore, specialized in illustration and embroidery. She’s only 25 years old and she has already exhibited her works in Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangkok.

Her series Sew Wanderlust is fascinating everybody all over the world, with its little embroidered scenes realized during her many travels around Europe, Asia and Oceania: a fall tree-lined road in Tokyo, Charles Bridge in Prague or Serpentine Falls in Perth are just some examples. These 10 cm diameter snapshots remind old Polaroids but unlike them, it takes Teresa about 2 or 3 hours to embroid each scene.

Last week we had the opportunity to met Teresa Lim and ask her a few questions about her work. She arrived in Bologna with her flaming red tools case, claming I am not a suspicious package on it. It revealed to be full of fabrics, loops, needles, scissors and loads of coloured threads. A real treasure chest!

While she was tasting some real Italian food and her mobilephone kept lighting up with notifications from her 14.700 Instagram followers, she told us about some very interesting people she happens to meet while embroiderying. A lot of people stop watching her fascinated and some of them start talking to her, curious to know more about such a young embroiderer, stitching outdoor.

After a long walk along the colonnades and under the towers, she decided to bring back home an exquisite picture of Bologna too!
