Description
This nice little book was written in 1864 by Antonio Merli (1815-1874) for the marriage of the Costabili and Caselli families and there were originally only 100 copies printed. This precious reprint was obtained from Bianca Rosa Bellomo’s original copy. Illustrations are by the Genoese engraver Edoardo Chiossone (1833-1898) who lived for many years in Japan where he taught industrial printing techniques, engraving for banknotes and stamps and made portraits of the most important personalities of the period. His Eastern Art collection was inherited by the city of Genoa and is exhibited at the Chiossone Museum.
