Description
In her book Antique and Modern Italian Embroidery, Elisa Ricci mentions many techniques born or reborn at the beginning of the 1900s. Arising from that, this book’s authors describe a very simple but impressive embroidery used in the Romagna region to decorate cattle and oxen blankets in local country expositions and fairs: Savignano braid embroidery.
Later this kind of ornament was used to decorate curtains, pillows and tablecloths. The book outlines the history, illustrates the stitches and offers a few projects.
